1. What cookies are
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They let the site remember information about you — your login state, your preferences, which pages you viewed — so the site behaves the way you expect on repeat visits. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage and pixel tags; where we refer to "cookies" below we mean all of these.
2. Cookies we use
On the TrainLog website and web app we use the following categories of cookies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the site to function (authentication, CSRF protection, load balancing). These cannot be disabled.
- Preferences — remember settings such as your language or whether you've dismissed a banner.
- Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage statistics that help us understand how the site is used and where to improve it. Set only with your consent.
We do not use advertising cookies. We do not sell analytics data to third parties.
3. Your choices
The first time you visit the site, we ask for your consent to optional (analytics) cookies through a banner. You can change your choice at any time by clearing the site's cookies in your browser settings and revisiting the site, or by writing to support@trainlogapp.com.
Most browsers also let you block cookies globally, block only third-party cookies, or delete cookies on exit. Blocking strictly-necessary cookies may mean the site does not work as intended.
4. The mobile app
The TrainLog mobile application does not use cookies. It uses native platform storage (iOS Keychain, Android Keystore, secure app storage) to keep you logged in and remember your preferences. Our Privacy Policy describes what data the mobile app handles.
5. Changes
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. When we do, we update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be announced through a banner on the site.
